About Mosso
We started Mosso because we knew there were web developers who wanted a reliable platform for their applications and email--without being the ones responsible for all the technology.
It's not that we think the agencies and freelancers building The Web (sorry, The Web 2.0) are scared of a little hard work. We just think to excel at innovating, you have to spend all your time doing innovative things (like graphics and coding) and none of your time worrying about web servers.
And speaking of innovation, why weren't the hosting companies stepping up to the plate? The only ones we could find were either asking developers to share a server crammed full of other sites or get their own servers or VPSes and figure out how to keep them online.
Modern web applications require technologies like clustering, load-balancing, and SAN storage; the kinds of technologies large enterprise sites use to stay online. When we couldn't find anyone offering advanced technology like that at a reasonable price, we decided in our own stubbornness to figure out a way to do it ourselves. Maybe it wasn't an idea that would change the world, but it sure would make life a lot easier for people like us.

What we wanted to do was pretty complex, so luckily, we had the support of Rackspace, an industry leader that currently manages over 30,000 servers for customers all over the world. (Well, it wasn't all luck, really. We both worked at Rackspace as our day jobs, so we knew those folks well.)
We took the Mosso vision to Rackspace's leadership team, who agreed to fund development of the new venture, and lend Rackspace's expertise towards engineering and perfecting the platform.
Because Mosso needed to cluster servers in a very unique way, the partnership with Rackspace proved invaluable. They have a large amount of expertise with advanced Windows and Linux configurations, and their Zero-Downtime Network has lived up to its name for over four years.
